What Tyler Perry Movies Have Taught Me

They have taught me that professional black men are evil. They will cheat on you and beat you. The best thing to do is go out and get a bus driver, mechanic, or someone who welds. If you are a lawyer, you should specifically seek out a mechanic who lives in poverty with three children and a crazy ex-wife who lives with an evil drug dealer. I thought mechanics made good money, but in Tyler Perry world, they are the poorest of the poor. Bus drivers however, bank big bucks, enough for a classic mustang and an awesome loft that those who make six figures couldn't afford.

I have learned that white men are the devil, and as a black woman you are so desperate for one, you will lie, cheat, and steal to get him and his money. Your blue collar black husband is too good for you. You are a gold digging harlot being the white man's concubine.

I have also learned that a black men will choose a crack head with a criminal record over a lawyer. That professional woman is conniving and evil. I also learned again a white man is evil and will use you.

Louis Theroux on Black Nationalism

Do you think a white journalist from America would do this or be able to do this?

Dear Old Black Man

Dear Old Black Man,

I know there is a black male shortage for lots of black women, and you are willing to take up the slack by offering your services, but believe it or not, some of us black women have standards. For instance, some of us don't like to share men. I know this is crazy, we should all be excited one man is willing to spread the love, but sometimes we are selfish and just want to practice monogamy. So please feel free to love on your wife or girlfriend, and concentrate all that love on her, instead of trying to spread it thin by just giving all that good loving away to many different women.

I know sometimes when I walk by you, I might peak your interest, but really, if you are drunk and hanging out in front of a convenience store, or at the bus stop and decide maybe you should get my number, maybe just maybe don't approach as if I am a common street whore. Yelling "hey shawty, can I get your number?" and then referring to me as "ugly, stuck up bitch" because I ignore you is not a turn on. Also sobriety is much sexier than alcoholism, I'm just saying.

I know this is hard to grasp, yes I like children, but if you have a bunch of kids, they come from various women, and you have never in your life considered marriage to any of the woman you procreated with, you are a red flag, and I, as well as many other black women will run from you. My belief is, if I bring no children into the relationship, you shouldn't either. I don't really like the concept of taking care of other people's children. Child support is no joke, and unlike the baby momma's before you who don't mind getting money on the side, I would prefer court ordered child support so that I have documentation of what you paid for. I feel it is for both your protection and mine. Call me a gold digger, but men who don't like paying child support are also red flags to me. You knew how babies were made, you should have protected yourself, just like the baby mamma you made the baby with.

One final thing, just because you are degreed, professional, and child free, it does not give you the right to be an arrogant, materialistic asshole. I know that you are a gold mine amongst black men, but honestly, you shouldn't expect Halle Berry if you look like Beetlejuice from the Howard Stern show or if you weigh as much as Bruce Bruce, don't expect a model thin wife or girlfriend. If you talk to me like I am a common dog, don't expect me to bark at you, expect a beat down. Just because you possess some positive qualities, doesn't mean black women are willing and ready to drop their panties for you. I know black women are gold diggers, but many of us want a complete package, and sometimes that goes beyond material things.

Dear Old White Man

Dear Old White Man,

I know when you approach me, I am supposed to drop my panties on site. I understand that me being a negro, I should be flattered you offered to buy my coffee. I know that after you asked if we could have coffee together and I told you I was married, I should have just bypassed that and offered instead to go off to some seedy hotel with you. Unfortunately for you, I don't work that way. I see you as the reason so many black women are scared to date white men.

I remember back in the day in my early 20s, the white men who always approached me were in their 30s, 40s, and 50s. I even had a few who were in their 60s who would approach me. Wrinkled, overweight, or married, it didn't matter I was the key to fulfilling the fantasy of sleeping with the black woman, who in your mind is apparently wild in bed. I know that you had this dream in your teens and 20s, but then you were too scared of what your family and friends would say, so you went the safe route and got your white woman, got married, and had kids. I understand you are now divorced, or you never bothered to get married, but why not fulfill the fantasy with a black woman closer to your age? You want the woman who might have wanted to date you if you were her age, maybe when you are a little less wrinkled, bald, and worn.

All I am saying is, your boat as passed. Just because now you have nothing to lose, it doesn't mean I don't. I have family and friends who like me, are not impressed by whiteness alone. Some of us black women are not complacent with being your play toy or your "dirty little secret". Some us only actually sleep with men we like and want relationships with, not with any man on the street corner. Some of us actually like white guys, but we only like white guys who aren't scared of what their families and friends will think. We like guys our own age, and not just any man who comes and approaches us. I know per the media and hell even some of our own, we are ugly, downtrodden, desperate, and destined to be alone, but some of us actually do ok in the dating and relationship world and are willing to hold out for the guys who aren't chicken shit.

I hope you find someone, let's hope you don't pay and offer a hotel room for her

The Internet Is Coming Down!!!!!

I'm on bedrest this week, and my husband is cutting down the internet like a lumberjack. He maintains I can't be on the internet arguing with folks. So he is suggesting I focus on happy things like puppies and kitties.

Since this blog isn't about puppies and kitties, I will need a little break from it. But I will be back. Don't worry, he is also cutting down MSNBC and general discussions on politics and race as well.

I have some posts saved up in the meantime, and I will be attempting to monitor comments for posting.

What's the True Purpose of the Tea Parties?

This blog has been cross posted over at Blogher.

On September 12, 2009, thousands, based on various new sources outside of the conservative circles, who claim that the liberal media is dismissing their numbers. The purpose of the 9/12 project, organized by Glenn Beck and Freedom Works, who is responsible for the "grassroots" organizing of the tea parties. If you look at who runs Freedom Works, it is not a small grassroots organization. ACORN is more of a grassroots organization, and that's saying a lot. People got together, they carried signs, they chanted, they cheered. But why? I'm not quite sure, when interviewed many said they were concerned about rising taxes, the stimulus spending, gun control, the fight against socialism/fascism/communism/marxism, and to bring America back to being a Christian nation. All in all, there was no real concrete reason for this gathering, except to gather together in opposition of the President.

I understand people being upset about the stimulus package, I really do, as of this week, it's been a year since AIG received their first bailout package. Obama has been president for nine months. That means the bailouts started occurring before Obama became President. It makes me wonder, why these people did not organize until AFTER Obama became President. Why did they not protest when George Bush encouraged these bailouts for the protection of our faltering economy? This is the question I often ask those who are pro tea party, and they can never really answer it. I guess it's ok to have corporate bailouts when you're a Republican, but not when it's a Democrat. That's the message I'm getting from this argument. I should note, I was against the bail outs from the very beginning, if figured if we are capitalist society, we should let those companies who mishandled their resources fail. If it weren't for the laissez faire regulation of these companies, implemented by Reagan, Bush Sr., and Bush Jr., we wouldn't have had to bail them out to begin with, but that's just my opinion. I didn't protest, I just made sure to save money for this recession, in case my husband loses his job.

Another argument we hear about is the concern of rising taxes. Obama has decided to tax 5% of the population, bringing them closer to the tax rate that President Reagan had them at. Why were these people not upset at Reagan? Why do these people fail to recognize that 95% of people will receive a tax cut? When Obama raises taxes for the majority of Americans, I will be the first to be in line protesting. I, like most Americans, I assume don't like paying taxes, but realize it's a necessary evil. I will however say that, in order to insure my community has great schools, libraries, an effective police, fire, and emergency resources, taxes don't bother me so badly. I like having early childhood development and after school programs for the children of my community. I like knowing that the elderly have a place to go during the day,so that they can interact with others, and keep busy, which in turns keeps them healthy. I guess I don't mind paying taxes when I see where it is going.

The argument on gun control, I don't quite understand it. I don't understand why people are so eager to bring an AK-47 to a town hall meeting. I live in Texas, it is perfectly legal for people to carry concealed weapons, excluding certain places like schools. Note, I said concealed, why would you go around showing your gun to the general public, unless you wanted to instill unrest and discomfort. He did in 1999, urged the prohibiting the operation of a gun store within five miles of a school or park. I don't know about you, but that doesn't sound horrible. I don't want a liquor store or a strip club near a school or park either. That's my "conservatism" sticking out. He supports gun control. I do too. I don't understand why anyone needs an AK-47. My understanding you need guns for protection and hunting. Either or, an AK-47 might be overwhelming for such things. Again, just my opinion. Right now most people, depending upon their state, and their criminal record, can get access to a hand gun or gun used for legitimate hunting.

The biggest argument I hear about is the socialism/fascism/communism/marxist. I really don't think the people who throw around these accusations actually know the definitions of any of these things. Obama is not any of those things, not to mention fascism and socialism are complete opposites of each other. Communism is a form of socialism that abolishes private ownership. We can look at the bailouts for that, but we need to look at Bush, not Obama for the bailouts, he was the one who got the ball rolling on that. Socialism is advocating state ownership of industry. We can again look at bailouts, and again look at Bush if you are concerned with that. Fascism is a government that promotes extreme nationalism, repression, anti communism, and is ruled by a dictator. I had no idea the Obama was a dictator, he was democratically elected by the people. I would say extreme nationalism would be something on the right with their patriotism rhetoric. If Obama is a communist, he surely couldn't be a fascist. Marxism is a philosophy in which law is considered an instrument of oppression and control, and which the ruling class uses against the working class. Per many of those at the tea parties, they are concerned with all the "hand outs" for all the "lazy" uninsured people out there. That doesn't sound like Marxism to me. It seems these are just "buzz words" used to smear any of the policies put forth by the Obama administration.

What I have learned from the Tea Parties is that the only cohesive point that people are there for is to oppose the President. Some hold signs that speak untruths. Others hold up signs that are blatantly racist. Some question the legitimacy of this President by trying to proclaim he is not an American. Some believe he is a Muslim, while others believe he is blatant racist because he went to a Christian church led by Rev. Jeremiah Wright. The tea parties are usually organized and embraced by those on the right. Glenn Beck who claims to be independent is a conservative. Fox News has a conservative leaning in comparison with mainstream media. I don't care what Fox News says, they are really not fair and balanced. If you look at our media, in comparison to the rest of the world, we aren't all that "liberal", unless we talk about Muslim media, which is very conservative.

When you have events organized by people like Glenn Beck, who refers to the President as a racist, which is crazy, considering he is a self identified black man with a white mother, and when you have people embracing Joe Wilson for heckling and being downright rude to the President. When these people aren't really sure why they are gathering, except for disdain of a President, I can't help but to think, all the other issues are secondary to an issue they are not mentioning, which is race. Call it the race card, but I see way too many signs that point to racism, and even if that is your fringe, why do you continue to let them dominate your ranks, and be the most vocal? Why is their silence on the end of the others in your plight, unless there is agreement and approval of these people?

The accusations made from the tea party element are nothing short of defamation. I don't have any respect for people who align themselves with the fringe and refer to themselves as the mob. It seems their intent is it intimidate, and not argue the issues, but express their anger at the fact their man didn't win, and since he didn't win, they feel they are losing control, which is why you have people like Pat Buchanan can proclaim this country was built by white people, and get no reprimand, but rather silence. When you listen to blatant racists like Rush Limbaugh and use their rhetoric, I can't respect you. I know that sounds harsh, but with this last election, I see undertones of people actually reverting back to the past, wanting to embrace McCarthyism, and think that their arguments are valid, when there is no actual proof to back many of their arguments up. It scares me at this time to think that people are scared the President will encourage their kids to go to school and work hard, but are perfectly fine with other Presidents pushing political agendas, such as No Child Left Behind to their children.

The Tea Parties scare me, not because I don't agree with protesting, I do, I love the idea of protesting to show support or dissent, but the unclear, random message that is essentially is to hate the President for no other reason than the color of his skin and that fact his name doesn't sound "American", kind of confuses me.

The Definition of Racism

On this blog I have defined myself as racist. People have run with this, thinking of racism in an obviously completely different context. Someone over at another blog, indicated my racism makes their stomach turn. I think that, and this is going to be racist, people of color have a different definition of racism than white people do. There I said it. Now I am awaiting for someone else to tell me they are concerned for my child and/or hope they die.

According to Merriam-Webster, racism is defined as:

Main Entry: rac·ism
Pronunciation: \ˈrā-ˌsi-zəm also -ˌshi-\
Function: noun
Date: 1933
1 : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race
2 : racial prejudice or discrimination

I practice racial prejudice at times. As I have said before in previous posts:

-I admit when I hear White people make gross accusations about affirmative action, I assume them to be the White people who feel they are entitled, and always think for every black person in college, there is some White person who deserved it so much more, regardless of IQ, SAT scores, GPA, and whatever else that black person has.

-I sometimes think white people have a belief they are entitled to opportunities in life, and that blacks who are "allowed" these opportunities are inferior.

-I think asians and other races of folks look down upon black people in general.

-I think many other races of people (Asian, Indian, Hispanic, etc.) aspire to be white and fit into mainstream society.

-I think many Asian women suffer from what some Black men suffer from, which is "anything white will do" syndrome.

-I think that Hispanics, in particular Mexican folks are some of the most racist people around.

-I think that most White people are racist, but they can't accept or acknowledge that fact because it would be seen as negative in this day and age to be so.

-I think that for White people when it comes down to certain things, race plays a bigger factor more than they care to admit, consciously or subconsciously.

-I think that white women assume they are automatically more attractive than other races of women.

I have also said before that I know these are sweeping generalizations that aren't fair. My goal in life is to work on them. I work on them everyday. I know not all white people are evil and hate or even dislike black people, I know not all asians, hispanics, etc. all fit in the same box.

I think it is possible to be racist towards your own race. I see it all the time with black people. There is a segment of the black population that believes all the black stereotypes. People who believe most black people want to be rappers or athletes. Most black people are poor, or violent, or less intelligent than other races of people. They believe that other groups of people are inherently superior to black people. I will admit when I see black folks fulfill these stereotypes I cringe. I swore I saw Lil Wayne the other night while shopping at Kroger. I live in overwhelmingly white, republican suburbia, I cringe when I see this because I am painfully aware that white people will see the Lil Wayne clone and think that is what most black people all look like. I cringe because my racist mind assumes most white people use the example of one or some to apply to all, and use it to legitimize their own racist beliefs.

Now when I say racist beliefs of white people, I am going to the "prejudicial racism" definition. They believe that what they see on television and/or the relatively few black people they interact with, represent all black people. Do I think these are the people who will come and lynch a black person or burn a cross in your yard? Nope. I do however think they hold racist thoughts and since it is not acceptable to be called racist, unless you are a KKK or Aryan nation member, refuse to acknowledge their prejudices or racism.

It doesn't always have to be about the negative, "prejudicial racism" can be about something as simple as a name.

Do I think some white people fall into the first definition, in which they believe they are inherently superior? Most definitely, but many black people do as well (think Black Hebrew Israelites).

I usually see the "superiority racism" when I hear about the upset in Affirmative Action. Why do you assume some or even the majority of people of color (excluding asians as they have the "positive" stereotypes) are there with lower grades or SAT scores than a white person who didn't get in? Why can it not be assumed that they are just as smart as you, or maybe even smarter than the white person that didn't get in? If the grades aren't the same, maybe that black person who got in got in for other attributes, maybe they were good at basketball, football, baseball, or even golf or swimming? Maybe they transferred in with great grades from a community college, maybe they were involved in activities that look good to a college admissions person. People tend to celebrate when a white guy gets into college because of a football scholarship and frown when a black guy does it, and it is assumed that the white guy must have been smart and athletically gifted, whereas the black guy was just athletically gifted. As a black woman who once dated a white guy with a basketball scholarship, I know not all white guys in athletics are smart. Sometimes, they like the black, asian, or hispanic guy are just really good at their sport of choice.

Another way in which I see "superiority racism" is in beauty ideals or standards. I once had a white woman who was married to a hispanic man tell me that she wished her brother in law, who is hispanic, would date white women, so that he could get a "real quality woman" instead of just a black or hispanic woman. I guess in her mind quality was equal to white. She didn't like my response or reaction to that. She also didn't fully understand why I thought what she said was offensive. She probably still doesn't to this day. You also get this with other races of women.

There is also the racism that counts as both. A concern about the unfair double standards that exist that people feel benefit people of color, such as black power vs. white power, right to use the n-word, the "why can't black people get over slavery" arguments. These are prejudicial because assumptions are made about whole groups of people, and they also express superiority because they fail to acknowledge the history of racism and how it still affects people.

Racism in the traditional definition is bad, I know this, that is why I work on mine, but to fail to acknowledge racism is a grave injustice and it continues to stall race relations. Until people fully acknowledge and accept racism in all of it forms, even the "innocent" racism, I know that we are never going to improve. Maybe the answer for some is to find escape in tribalism. For people like me, who have married interracially or had biracial children, that can never be an option, and we are stuck with figuring out how the world indeed can fix the current mess it's in.

Why You Can't Use The N-Word

Normal day in Siditty's life, she goes to visit her mother

Siditty's Mother: "Hi Siditty"
Siditty: "What's up my nigga?"
Siditty's Mother: ::silent rage::
Siditty: ::Knocked out on the ground unconscious::

::Pretend this is Siditty and not Suge Knight, and she is at her parent's house, not at a night club::

Contrary to popular belief, I don't use the n-word. I know that since Lil Wayne and all the rappers use it, that equates to all black people using the word, but the fact of the matter is my parents don't use the word (at least in front of me), my friends who are black don't use it, and I don't use it.

I know I am a magical negro. I know that "I'm not like the others", but in reality, I am black, and like many other blacks, realize that the word carries many negative connotations, and even in the year 2009, the world is hurtful and painful to many people, including me.

I know you will think "Wow, slavery is over, why can't you let it go, it's just a word?" See to some of us, it is more than a word, and racism didn't end with slavery. After slavery we had Jim Crow, that denied blacks the rights to a quality education, access to restaurants, stores, parks, pools, bathrooms, transportation, all kinds of places. It also kept blacks from voting. This happened clear until the 1960s.

I know this is crazy, to some, but my parents remember the 1960s. I know me being 33, my mom should only be about 45 or 46, after all, all black people start having children as soon as possible and breeding like cockroaches, but my mother remembers, my father remembers. They remember when it was all the rage for white people to use the n-word, they used it freely and often, without repercussion.

Just because whites then had the "right" to use the word, didn't mean the word didn't have negative connotations or had a negative impact. Just because it is 2009, doesn't mean the word is no longer a word with the same meaning. The meaning is still there. It didn't go away because Nas and Jay Z enjoy using it in their songs.

I'm also going to let you in on a secret. White people still use the word. They don't always use it out in the open, but some do use it, and often. You should read my emails and the comments that don't make it on this blog. I can remember the 1st time I heard the n-word, my family and some of their friends were called the n-word by a man when I was a little kid at a carnival, not too far from a "sundown town". I was born after the era of Jim Crow, and my blog and email address were established after Jim Crow as well. I know this is shocking, but in the year 2009, racism still exists. I say this often, but people tend to forget this all the time, and it concerns me.

If you are white, why are you so eager to use it? I have yet to get a answer to this. Is it really a double standard to use this word? I mean it is kind of like cursing. I might curse when in my home, but at work, I don't call my boss an asshole because he would get on my nerves, nor do I call my co-workers dumb mother fuckers if they do something I don't like, or if I don't like them. I know better than to say that, it is rude, and it isn't polite, nor professional. What would saying the n-word do for a white person, what would you accomplish with that?

I mean I know white people received carte blanche to use the n-word back in the day, but do we want to go back to the era of Jim Crow? Will that make everything right with the world, and eradicate racism to go back to the "good old days", which were full of racism?

I also question the black people who are under the impression all black people go around using the n-word. Who do you hang out with? Is this normal for you? Why would you surround yourself with blatant stupidity, as anyone who uses the word in my mind is stupid. That's how I grew up, the word was ugly, nasty, and not something anyone with a lick of sense would say. Maybe you should break the cycle. Maybe no one told you, we buried the n-word.

Caster Semenya Gets A Makeover

Caster Semenya gets a makeover. I think she looks good, but I think it is sad she has to prove her femininity to the world. Does make up and some nice clothes really make you a woman? Why wasn't her "old" persona good enough?

A Frank Discussion With A White Person About Racism

Jovent aka Mr. Man @ mrm9114@gmail.com has bestowed upon me an email. Apparently I touched a nerve with my last post. Then this guy came in and confirmed my beliefs about racism. He also claims only black people like Angelina Jolie and Jessice Biel. LOL The majority of personal emails I receive from white people are of this ilk. The belief is that blacks have privilege, that we all benefit from Affirmative Action, that whites and other races don't benefit from it, blacks are less intelligent, and blacks are not accountable for their own actions and use racism as a scapegoat.

I wonder does he realize he is the epitome of the white racist stereotype I put forth in my last post. So if my opinions you feel are skewed, this might be why.

There are so many mistakes here that it is hard to know where to begin. Your comments are one's I'm too familiar with.

You said: "In terms of whites co-opting black stereotypes, I can only say this, this sounds mean, but whites have a habit of taking or co-opting things without acknowledging where those things come from." This is very much in accord with anti-white bias that pervades contemporary culture. The current age casts white culture by turns as stultifying, spoiled, rapacious, and backwards. We are the only race that has nothing to recommend it.

This statement by you is to convince your readers that this view, however commonsensical it has become, is entirely inverted. It is an almost inconceivable injustice rooted in a tragic ignorance of history or willful blindness. The world has apparently forgotten Shakespeare was white, Isaac Newton was white, Michelangelo was white. . A full 97 percent of significant scientific figures between 800BC and 1950 have come from the West. Indeed, nearly all the great innovators in science, technology, art, literature, and philosophy have been white. In fact, between the 11th century and 1950, all major technological innovations, from the watch to the steam engine to the computer, came from Europe and the United States. Indeed, white people created the whole moral system that condemns them.

Today the world blames white Americans for slavery but forgets that whites were the first to formulate the concept of human rights that is the basis of this condemnation. Until the 19th century slavery was a universal practice, and Arabs, Africans, and Asians never realized it might be wrong until white people told them so and pressured them to abolish it. The very blog you write was create by whites. Your tv, radio, movies, medicine, cars, airplanes, democracy.

Today big lips and big asses are not considred pretty by white people. Jolie, Beil, Coco are more admired by blacks than white. I don't see coco in any white men mags. Biel is pretty but not for a her ass, and her ass isn't even fat. A very small percentage of WW get botox in their lips or ass implants, Most blk women get their hair straightend, however. Who thinks Timberlake is the best entertainr? Most of his fans are blk. Also, Rap is crap. Vanalia Ice was never more popular than LL Cool J. White people invented movies but most blk people's favorite movies are blk movies. People relate more to their own kind. You're just so myopic you can't understand that.

Whites don't want a discussion on race, because in reality, that discussion would hurt your feelings." Didn't you just make an assumption of what whites think with this statement? This perspective results in a blatantly biased interpretation of American history that universally casts whites as villains and non-whites as victims. Injustice flows in one direction only—from whites to non-whites—and never the other way around. Furthermore, non-whites’ problems are never their own responsibility, but due solely to oppression by whites. You use race as a scapegoat for being a failure in life.

You said" Whites chose to be excluded from the topic of race, they didn't want race relations to change or improve for the most part, black people did, and that is what many whites fail to acknowledge. Whites were for the most part just fine with slavery, and just fine with Jim Crow." If the vast majority of whites were fine with it than why did it end, you moron. Thanks in part to the efforts of the majority of Americans who were not slaves and who are not black, blacks in America today are the richest and freest blacks on God's green earth. Richer and freer than black citizens of any black nation in the world. Your racial indictment of white America is a house of cards built with a stacked deck. The acts undertaken by Americans and their government over the next hundred years, which have had world ramifications for minorities and oppressed people everywhere, including the civil rights battles to end segregation and discrimination, the trillions of dollars devoted to economic programs and affirmative action plans designed to uplift the poor generally and blacks in particular. These are all dismissed.

You said: "When white people do include themselves in the debate and actually "get it", they are viewed as race traitors and dismissed by fellow whites. Jane Elliot and Tim Wise are perfect examples of this." Leftwing race activist (and self-flagellating white male) Tim Wise is a piece of work. Wise is a self-hater. No doubt about it. His goal is an excuse to bash whites and promote minority racism and leftist notions of social justice.

You said: "In post-racial America, whites have made it loud and clear what they think about a black President, over and over and over again. Wow, you're so ignorant. A few screwballs are pulling their kids out of school, so that represents most whites? This is a perfct example of black privilege. A blk person can say whatever they want about a white person and no one thinks anything of it. However, if someone hates Obama for his idiotic policies than they're racist, as if the far left never called Bush a nazi? Youre so myopic.

You said: Racism is NOT AN OPINION, it is not made up in people's heads. When you go to an office and see the only black people working there are in "lower" positions. You see it when you managed to get hired and your co-workers with less experience and education make more than you. You see it when your HR department does an audit on salaries and education and note that the few minorities and women who work in the same jobs as their white counterparts have significantly more education and experience, but make less money." Th only blk people working in lower positions because they have no education. That isn't racism. You can't give me 5 examples of co-workers with less education or experience making more than somebody else. It's against the law, and you're just pulling stats out of your ass as usaual. If there is differnce in pay it's less than a quarter for every dollar. That isn't a significant difference in pay. You're just plain making shit up again. You're trying to play the victim because you're jealous. When you see fuck ups and losers you ask your self why? It couldn't possibly be their fault. Black people can never be held respossible for themselves, lets scapegoat whites again.

Results of culturally-neutral IQ tests across the globe consistently show that blacks have lower intelligence than whites no matter what the social context. There is no denying that affirmative action permeates American business, government, and education, and there is also no denying that it is Black privilege. WW, Asains don't benefit from Affirmative action at all. Balcks think these groups do, but if you look at the stats, ww and asains don't benefit from AA. WW and Asains get into places based on merit. If whites are more successful than blacks and Hispanics then, it is not because the game is rigged in our favor, but because of innate differences among the races in the traits that lead to accomplishment, like intelligence and providence.

My Response:

"This statement by you is to convince your readers that this view, however commonsensical it has become, is entirely inverted. "

Yes we live in the West, the west has colonized the world, of course it appears anything of worth came from the west. The fact is that many things of science and math didn't always come from white people, I know you don't know because you don't study them, but feel free to learn about base 10 and base 20 concept in West Africa or the concept of the counting stick in South Africa in 35000 B.C. That they also were using Algebra in East and West Africa. Just because your teacher didn't teach you this, but rather what they did in Europe doesn't mean us negroes were all sitting on our asses doing nothing, like people like you think of when you think of us "dumb negroes".

White people did not create morality, that to say such is completely and utterly dumb, ignorant, and racist.

"Today the world blames white Americans for slavery but forgets that whites were the first to formulate the concept of human rights that is the basis of this condemnation. Until the 19th century slavery was a universal practice, and Arabs, Africans, and Asians never realized it might be wrong until white people told them so and pressured them to abolish it. The very blog you write was create by whites. Your tv, radio, movies, medicine, cars, airplanes, democracy"

I guess white people forget to tell themselves it was bad, because it was still going on in the 19th century in America, and then after the Civil War we had slavery, better known as share cropping and then we had the advent of Jim Crow or systemized, legalized oppression of black people. Maybe whites shouldn't be involved with telling others what to do, until they fix themselves. America received pressure from other whites, but in America, slavery was business as usual.

"The acts undertaken by Americans and their government over the next hundred years, which have had world ramifications for minorities and oppressed people everywhere, including the civil rights battles to end segregation and discrimination, the trillions of dollars devoted to economic programs and affirmative action plans designed to uplift the poor generally and blacks in particular. These are all dismissed."

It's funny how you think Affirmative Action mostly benefits blacks, it doesn't. It appeases whites like you who think blacks are less intelligent, less hard working, and less important than white people. It benefits white women way more than it ever did blacks, which is why college enrollment of white women is now surpassing white men.

I knew Tim Wise would be considered a "self hater" by you LOL

"A few screwballs are pulling their kids out of school, so that represents most whites? This is a perfct example of black privilege. A blk person can say whatever they want about a white person and no one thinks anything of it. However, if someone hates Obama for his idiotic policies than they're racist, as if the far left never called Bush a nazi? Youre so myopic"

You forget the tea baggers and the birthers in the group of screwballs. It is one thing to not like his policies, it is another to constantly question his right to even be President, even though he won the majority vote and the electoral college. Bush lost the majority vote and still became President, why were these same people not questioning him? You don't see the double standard because as a typical white person in your mind white people are inherently put in their positions without question. I've never called Bush a Nazi. I didn't like him as my governor or president, but I didn't go around calling him a Nazi nor did I see the media or major politicians or analysts refer to him as a Nazi. Obama is a different story. I am still awaiting my black privilege, I think I will be waiting for a while on that LOL. I think you inspired my next post.

" You can't give me 5 examples of co-workers with less education or experience making more than somebody else. It's against the law, and you're just pulling stats out of your ass as usaual."

LOL I gave you a huge example, I love how you excluded what happened to my father in his company, him and his black co-workers had that happen to them. The average white in the same position had two years of college and made more money. The average non-white had a Master's degree and made less. To avoid a lawsuit this was abruptly changed, but it was a definite example of how educated black people are told that even with their work experience, education, they still aren't viewed as valuable as their white co-workers. Before you go into the blacks got their degrees in favor of more qualified whites, my father went to the HBCU, and was hired at this company before the advent of Affirmative Action. I also live in Texas, where race based admissions have been banned, and now white people are all up in arms because minority enrollment increased due to Bush, your favorite guy, guaranteeing that if you were in the top 10% of your school, you had automatic admission to any state school of your choice. So explain how more minorities now get into colleges without race based admissions and why white people are still bitching and moaning because their kids didn't study hard enough.

" You're trying to play the victim because you're jealous. When you see fuck ups and losers you ask your self why? It couldn't possibly be their fault. Black people can never be held respossible for themselves, lets scapegoat whites again. "

I played the victim how, by stating FACTS. LOL how pathetic and sad. What proof do you have black people aren't accountable for themselves. Example of typical white racist right there with that comment. You're giving yourself away.

"Results of culturally-neutral IQ tests across the globe consistently show that blacks have lower intelligence than whites no matter what the social context. There is no denying that affirmative action permeates American business, government, and education, and there is also no denying that it is Black privilege. WW, Asains don't benefit from Affirmative action at all."

You are lying, and now pulling facts out your ass. White women are the BIGGEST benefactors of affirmative action, as well as welfare. Asians benefit as they are protected. My IQ is higher than the majority of the American population, so is my brothers, so is my mothers. Are we magical negroes? LOL You are so stupid it isn't even funny.

" WW and Asains get into places based on merit. If whites are more successful than blacks and Hispanics then, it is not because the game is rigged in our favor, but because of innate differences among the races in the traits that lead to accomplishment, like intelligence and providence."

Thanks for your Steve Sailer intellectual racism at the end again proving to me this email was a waste because people like you are too stupid to actually learn anything and will continue to be racist idiots breeding more racist idiots like the cockroach you are.

Again, thanks for proving me right. Thanks for being ignorant, racist, and willful. Thanks for proving that white people have no sense of humanity for people of color.

LOL I did argue your points silly goose. You even asked for examples and I gave you one. How sad and pathetic. I have a life, do you? I'm on bedrest, so yeah I have to sit on my ass all day for a while. It's because of the mixed race baby I am making that you plan on hating and blaming for the downfall of the white man. LOL

I love how you copy paste the same stuff over and over from Stormfront and Steve Sailer by the way. I love it.

Have a good day, don't let the hate get in the way.

What makes all of this funny, is after he sent this email, he sent another trying to prove facts. It was the same stuff copy and pasted off another website, which is par for the course for these type of people. They can never use their own ideas, but rather, copy paste things and say them over and over. I didn't bother at this point to engage in this debate with him, and now he will use that to determine that I am incapable of having civil dialogue, thus proving me inferior, negro intelligence. Like I said before, people will believe what they want to believe.

Mental Illness In The Black Community-Maia Campbell

I was going to try not to be quiet about this, but I couldn't help it. This video angers me to no end. This man is blatantly disrespecting this women and no one is coming to her aid. One man steps in to tell her not to disrespect "his family" while the guy with the camera is asking her such questions as "do you want to suck my dick?" and "you going to pop a tittie out?" I think what is even more astonishing is that it is obvious something is wrong with her, but he is trying to exploit her without a care in the world.

I find it also strange that people are laughing at her misfortune, using it to make fun of her and be downright cruel. Is mental illness funny?

I have talked about the perceptions of mental illness in the black community before. I get frustrated, but then I am part of the problem. I know I have my weird notion about seeing a psychiatrist myself, and I really should be open to the idea. Especially for someone like this woman.

If you guys don't know who this woman is, it is Maia Campbell. She is an actress best known for her role on the sitcom "In The House" with LL Cool J. She is also the daughter of BeBe Moore Campbell. Apparently since her mother passed away a few years back, she has had some issues. I am not clear on her mental condition, but apparently she is either bipolar, schizophrenic, or both and refuses to take her medication. She is also rumored to be using drugs, in particular meth.A few years back, there were some nude pics and videos of her on the internet, and she looked like she wasn't fully aware of what was going on in those. I'm not quite sure where her father or the rest of her family is, or if they are even able to do anything, but I find it strange that these last few years she has been mixed up with people who do nothing but essentially pimp her out, and no one appears to be trying to help her.

How do we stop this stigma? Is she another case of the black community not protecting it's black women?

::UPDATE::

The "pimp" accused of hitting her speaks. I can't understand a damn word he is saying, but from what I can make out. He claims he isn't a pimp, but rather a "hustla", he doesn't beat her, she's on crack, and she is shooting a music video for him. If she is on crack, why would you want a crackhead in your music video? I also want to know if you were on a video shoot, where in the hell were you shooting the video? It looked like somebody's cousin's house. I love how he wanted her in the video, but he can't be bothered to know her name. I love how he is also concerned about his family being disrespected, but not about her.

Repost: How to Suppress Discussions of Racism

The person referenced in the previous post, has been outed as someone who really didn't want a true discussion on race. His purpose here was to agitate people and then run to his blog, where he labeled commenters who replied to this blog and the blog itself as "internet depravity, ranting raving and thinking, social theory, stupid people", " "intolerance, political correctness, prejudicial ignorance, really stupid people"", and "haters, hypocritical ignorance, racism, sadness". This person was here to instigate, not have a rational conversation on race, and he attempted to use my blog as fodder for his own, which is fine, his page needed some hits anyway, no harm no foul. There was never any sincerity in his attempt to talk race.

I was stupid for trying to have a conversation with him. I try my damnedest to make sure everyone here is heard, even if they don't agree with me. I don't agree with all the comments here, I just can't. We are all very different people with different views of life, and as is expected, people get rubbed the wrong way or just agree to disagree.

He is what I call an attempted "intellectual racist". It is attempted because racists typically aren't very smart. I will be talking about people like him later in another post. I do however feel the need to do this post, and plan to use it as a reminder for all those here who are like him and don't want an actual conversation about race.

What is scary is, I don't even think he read the posts he responded to, he just made assumptions based upon his perceptions and stereotypes and ran with it. How "intellectual" is that?

How to Suppress Discussions of Racism

Tired of discussions of racism in literature, television, and film? Worn out from the unexpected criticism of your leisure pursuits? Exhausted by the effort of having to respond to each new argument carefully and conscientiously?

We can help!

We'll teach you how to suppress discussion of racism in six easy steps. Soon suppressing dissent will be so easy you can do it in your sleep!

Especially designed for your online needs!

Maybe you've tried a guide before and found it spoke only about face-to-face arguments. Or maybe you're new to the online world and baffled by this chaotic new medium. This guide is just for you! Whether you're a baby troll or an experienced flame warrior, we can teach the best way to make your online environment a safe, friendly, colorblind place. Soon the World Wide Web will be your home away from home — and like your home, it will be full of only the people you want to see.

It's easy!

Just follow the steps below in order.

How to use "How to suppress discussions of racism"

Each step consists of a brief description in bold and further explanation in regular type. Important terms and key phrases are also bolded.

*!* We've also included some special tips for advanced study. They'll be prefaced by the *!* symbol and outlined with a black border. If you find these steps confusing, don't worry! They're just extra help for difficult situations. You can skip them entirely and still suppress most discussions of racism you encounter.

Introduction
Our goal is to show you a few simple techniques you can use to suppress the discussion of racism. As you read, keep in mind that your goal is not to learn or to educate, to listen or be listened to, to increase your understanding of difficult issues, or to exchange opinions and communicate with other people. Your goal is to make discussions of race so difficult and unrewarding that not only your opponent but any witnesses to your argument will never want to discuss race in public again.

Let's get started!

1. Control what your audience sees.

Successful suppression starts with the choices you make before you even begin to write. Don't allow your opponent to set the terms of the discussion. Make sure your account is not just the first but the only story your readers get to hear. The last thing you want is for them to judge your opponent's words for themselves.

Don't link to your opponent's argument.
Many of your readers won't even realize they haven't read the original post, just your response to it.

If you have linked to the opponent, all isn't lost. So many people never bother to click on links that you're reasonably safe as long as you don't quote your opponent's words in context.

If anyone asks you for a link, obfuscate: tell them everyone's talking about it, there are too many examples for you to cite, they can find the background themselves via Google. Remember: you're not responsible for backing up what you say, other people are.

If you've made the mistake of linking to and/or quoting from your opponent, don't worry! The rest of our guide can still help you out.

2. Attack the person, not the argument.
Personal attacks end the discussion before it even starts! If you can accuse your opponent of "paranoia," "white guilt," "internalized racism," "whining," "overreacting," "paternalism," "condescension," "being obsessed with race," "bitching about racism at the drop of a hat," or "taking things too personally," you don't need to bother addressing the content of their remarks. This will save you time and energy you can then devote to happier pursuits.

*!* Personal attacks are sometimes called "ad hominem attacks." "Ad hominem" is Latin. You can safely accuse anyone who uses the phrase of displaying "class prejudice," "academic bullying," or "using fancy phrases to disguise the fact you don't have an argument." As a last resort, you can pretend to misunderstand and accuse your opponent of "homophobia." Be careful! This step can backfire if your opponent has hidden his or her sexual orientation from you. Sometimes people avoid mentioning their sexual orientation when it is not relevant to the current discussion.

3. Argue against straw men
A "straw man argument" occurs when you misrepresent your opponent's position so that it's easier to refute.

Remember: Responding to what your opponent says should always be a last resort. To do so requires the extra effort of reading someone else's words and considering the implications of unfamiliar or uncomfortable thoughts. The discussion will go much faster if you just assume your opponent has said what you want to argue about and respond to that instead.

Here are some straw men you can use almost any time someone mentions race or criticizes racial representation in a book/film/TV show/comic book:

"Do you want to censor an artist's vision?"
"Please, like a movie/book/comic book is going to turn people racist or make white people want to enslave black people again?"
"According to you, the director/writer/artist sat down and decided to oppress people of color!"
"You want people to boycott art unless it's politically correct."
"You think people shouldn't enjoy art if it has racist elements."
"You think art isn't any good if it's racist."
"You think anyone who disagrees with you is a racist."

4. Deflect attention away from the specific criticism.
Remember, your goal is to avoid having to focus on what your opponent has actually said. We've compiled a list of helpful phrases that deflect attention away from specific discussion of racism. You can use them to respond to almost any discussion of racism, regardless of the content.

We recommend you mix and match responses; arguing is more fun when there's some variety involved. Be careful not to use all the responses at once, or else your opponent may notice that you are contradicting yourself.

"Why are you complaining about racism instead of sexism/homophobia/ageism/classism/genocide/world hunger?"
"I'm [a member of an oppressed group] and I'm not offended."
"My friend is [a member of an oppressed group] and he/she is not offended."
"Why aren't you talking about the white people in the book/film/comic book/TV show?"
"It's just a book/film/comic book/TV show!"

5. Racism, however ugly, is better than the alternative.

Sometimes, even when you do your best, your opponent is so persistent that you are forced to discuss racism. Don't worry: it's not your fault and soon it won't be your problem.

In most of these cases, you can rely on a few handy responses that define racism in a way that benefits you, prove that racism is better than the measures that would have to be taken against it, or otherwise misdirect your opponent's attention.

"Pointing out racism just makes it harder for us to achieve a colorblind society. You shouldn't judge people based on their race."
"Focusing so much on race just shows that you're racist yourself."
"Minorities can be racist too, you know!"
"Even if it's not the best representation of minority characters, it's better than having no minority characters at all, isn't it?"
"You'd rather have boringly flawless and politically correct minority characters?"
"Everyone knows it's bad to be racist now, so why make people feel defensive and ashamed by pointing incidents out?"
"Maybe it's racist, but what about reverse racism?"

*!* Because individuals are innocent until proven guilty, your opponent needs to prove that the writer/director/artist consciously and intentionally insulted people of color. Showing a long-term pattern of racial discrimination in literature/film/TV/comics/society/culture/law doesn't prove that this instance is doing any harm.

6. Prove your opponent has mistaken some other quality for racism.

In the worst-case scenario, you may need to respond to specific points in your opponent's argument. In these cases, familiarity with the book/film/TV show/comic book in question will help you customize your response to best effect.

Warning: Not all of the responses below will be applicable to all situations. Make sure that you only use responses appropriate for the current argument.

"Since everyone knows those are racist stereotypes, no one takes them seriously anymore and they can't do any harm. You're just missing the joke/clever subversion of the stereotype."

"It could be just a coincidence that this character fits an objectionable racial stereotype."

"It's not racist, it's just one character's point of view!"

If your opponent objects to this, see 3a. Any attempt to question why this character has been chosen or how the narrative is structured should be countered firmly with "Go write your own book/movie/comic book/TV show then!"

"It's not racist, interesting things only happen to white people!"

Because people of color have been oppressed, it's necessary to make protagonists powerful people, i.e. white. People of color have led lives too depressing, constricted, or painful to make for good fiction. Audiences come to art for escape, not to see the underdogs win or the powerless gain power or characters grow during the course of the film; and escape is, of course, incompatible with protagonists of color.

"It's not racist, it's historically accurate!"

You do not need to be familiar with the historical era in question. Your opponent probably doesn't know any more about the era than you do.

"It's not racist, it's a fantasy!"

Once a work of entertainment incorporates fantastical elements, it is no longer influenced by, reflective of, or capable of commenting on the real world.

"It's not racist, those people really are like that!"

If pressed, say that you've observed this behavior yourself. Your opponent can't prove you haven't.

"It's not racist, look how the white characters are treated!"

When in doubt, always emphasize the impact on white characters. If the characters of color are unreal in their stupidity, fecklessness, cowardice, or violence, you can point out that the white characters are equally unreal in their bravery, intelligence, wit, and compassion. Since all the characters are unrealistic, your opponent shouldn't single out the portrait of the characters of color for special opprobrium.

Racism is Not An Opinion, Or Something Made Up In People's Heads

::UPDATE: There is a response, and unfortunately, it was the one I was expecting. Now this child is saying I deleted his comment and that he replied back. I am now going through over 1,000 emails in Gmail, literally to find this missing post to see if indeed he replied back to me, if he did, I will be more than happy to post it and reply in a separate post continuing this conversation. I didn't find it, if he posts it, I will, I will be waiting, but I never got such a reply outside of what is posted in this blog entry. No lie. ::

Someone made some comments over in another post, and I felt those comments deserved it's own blog post.

His comments are ones I am all too familiar with. I heard the questions and comments he posed all the time growing up, and as many times as I explained it, it often fell on deaf ears, because people only want to believe what they want to. Facts are silly and not relevant in all decisions or perceptions most of the time. I feel I should respond to these questions and comments here, so that when it does get repeated, which it will, I can refer said person who says these comments here.

This first comment:

yeah, it seems like hypersensitivity to political correctness(among other things) has led to a backlash regarding people being able to talk about race. jokingly, seriously, sarcastically, philosophically, etc... someone always gets offended, but nobody wants to explore WHY they are offended, or what it means to be racist nowadays. is it discriminating against someone for a job? is it using racial slurs? is it playing on stereotypes for your comedy routine?

as a jew, i don't think you're anti-semitic, but i do think you (and many other minorities, especially in the black community) have a strong aversion to white liberal suburbanites (and other perceived "majorities") coopting racial stereotypes, or engaging in any kind of discussion about black, white, or whatever, in a manner equal to yourselves.

this is kind of sad, because even as we're making such progress in post-obama america, suddenly someone's being excluded from the table; which is ironic, and might seem "fair" in the historical sense, but hardly endears your cause to the world. racism begets reverse-racism (which is just racism) and then all we have is a vicious cycle of hate, never-ending.

to answer your question about, "what is being anti-semitic?" i would expand that further to all peoples and say, "what is it to be prejudiced? what is it to discriminate?

what is it to be a racist?

what is it to hate?"

The whole "climate of political correctness has messed things up or made things suck" excuse has run it's course. It is a cop out, and it is an excuse people use to dismiss and ignore the realities of the world. I'm sorry you can't openly display your racism, but now instead have to be more discreet about it. I'm sorry. I apologize, and with the current climate of racism in this country, it seems not too long from now, you will be free to say whatever, because honestly I'm waiting for Jim Crow to come back full force with all the current "veiled" racism going on.

I find it funny how many people who get mad and accuse the "offended" of made up racism, why they can't understand or try to understand why someone may be offended. We can pretend all we want the history of America was absolute love and racial harmony and that slavery and Jim Crow did not exist and had no bearing on race relations in America, but fact is, it happened, and racism isn't always about slavery and Jim Crow. We need to really get over that notion. We had generations upon generations, up to my parents generation of whites who were taught and believed that blacks are inherently inferior to them. Slavery and Jim Crow ended, but that mentality did not, no matter which way you slice it, that perception is still going around, and I see it displayed quite often. That leads to the subtle racism I discuss. I say this often, but racism goes beyond cross burning and dragging men behind trucks.

In terms of whites co-opting black stereotypes, I can only say this, this sounds mean, but whites have a habit of taking or co-opting things without acknowledging where those things come from. Ask the Native Americans, ask the Japanese in internment camps, and you can ask black people. I remember for years being teased by white people for using Crisco in my hair and skin, for having a big nose, for having big lips, and for having a big old "fat ass". I remember hearing that rap music was complete crap, ignorant, just plain stupid, and you didn't have to have talent to actually rap. I remember when wearing saggy pants meant you were in a gang. I remember New Edition making waves, but I remember New Kids on the Block becoming phenomenons. I remember the kids thinking LL Cool J was ok, but Vanilla Ice being where it is at. I remember when Justin Timberlake was singing Disney songs, but now he is supposed to be the greatest entertainer out there. I know that Eminem is now considered the best MC of our time. Angelina Jolie is sexy and known for her big lips, Jessica Beil is sexy for her voluptuous ass. White women are going out getting botox in their lips and ass implants. So they can get my "greasy chicken lips" and "fat ass" Please refer to Coco as a prime example of this. On black people, things are bad or ok, on white people these same things shine and are wonderful.

In terms of the discussion about race, white people don't want a discussion, they want to vent, blacks want the same, but it doesn't matter because white people will ignore their place or responsibility, and make the assumption about what blacks think. Whites don't want a discussion on race, because in reality, that discussion would hurt your feelings.

Whites chose to be excluded from the topic of race, they didn't want race relations to change or improve for the most part, black people did, and that is what many whites fail to acknowledge. Whites were for the most part just fine with slavery, and just fine with Jim Crow, both benefitted them, even the poorest of whites had an advantage during these times. That mentality has carried over and we see it today, that is why racism still exists to this day. When white people do include themselves in the debate and actually "get it", they are viewed as race traitors and dismissed by fellow whites. Jane Elliot and Tim Wise are perfect examples of this.

In post-racial America, whites have made it loud and clear what they think about a black President, over and over and over again. They don't call him a n*gger or drag him behind a truck, they just pull their kids out of school because they don't want their children indoctrinated, they were fine with Reagan and Bush Sr. indoctrinating the young, but a black man not so much. I didn't get converted into believing Reagan was the greatest President of our time, I sure as hell didn't get that Bush Sr. and me are buddies and on the same page. What I do get is that if your children are to become socialists or Nazis because a non socialist/non nazi President makes a speech about the importance of education and to stay in school, they don't need to be in school because they are dumb, and you and your schools have failed your kids. That sounds mean, but it's true. My mother, who is an educator feels if Obama can capture the audience of kids while making a boring speech, he is a miracle worker, kids don't have long attention spans when it comes to grown folks talking about serious stuff, that is just fact, they tune out, day dream, and pass notes to each other.

The second comment to address:

@siditty: i agree with you that racism can be subtle, but in those cases, it becomes a personal definition. overt acts like hate-speech, racial slurs, etc are something most people can agree on as being racist. but how can you tell if someone giving a job to a white person - or a black person - instead of another equally qualified ethnic/racial group is racist? it might be... but it might also be completely unrelated to it. subverting black culture and selling it back to consumer might be minstrelsy, or might just be about making money. ultimately, you're talking about your OPINION on what you THINK is racist.

i think saying that white people don't see the double standard is untrue. we do, and we point it out in things such as affirmative action, linguistic privilege over who can say "nigger", and even small things like black power versus white power signs.

white people see a new double standard emerging that is biased against their participating in the evolution, the conversation of race and racism in america.

don't let your personal experiences dare i say... color? your perception of the fact that we are ALL people. don't condescend that we can't understand you because we are not black, or let me assume that you can't understand being white or jewish because you aren't, but believe that we can all understand each other because we are all human. isn't that the point of everything we are discussing? to move beyond such stupid distinctions as skin-color? if you take the cop-out that i've heard so many times before (even on this blog) that we can't understand one another, then fundamentally you're giving up on race-relations. you're assuming we will always be strangers, instead of countrymen. and that is sad.

because your cause IS my cause. hate is infectious, and spreads like wildfire. to enslave one people or commit genocide against one people affects us all. you think the situation of "black america" has fallen on deaf ears yet things change, things have changed, and things are STILL changing. every people on earth has at some point in their history been treated unjustly by another. but to me, it is YOU are in danger of not-listening, because you're too busy telling me that i can never understand... when in fact we know all too well.

@all: i see a lot of the comments on this post saying anything slightly derogatory against jews gets you slandered with labels of anti-semitic. but i ask you, when i have made MY contrary opinions about "black america" have you not called me racist? haven't you thrown labels and slurs and other epithets at me? many in the black community are quick to make the same hypersensitive slanders at people who outside the community who call them out for their wrongs and hypocrisies. yet now you play the victim for being called anti-semitic so quickly? welcome to what it feels like when i try to talk about race.

S says that jews can make fun of ANYONE and get away with it (citing sarah silverman as an example) but do you think black comics or, for that matter, any color comics do anything differently? comedy holds all peoples equally ridiculous, from george carlin to margaret cho to whoopi goldberg to dave chappelle. nobody is above being laughed at.

i'm not saying jews aren't racist, or bigoted. we have words in hebrew that are clearly derogatory, and have in many instances sacrificed our dignity to "blend in" (much the same as light-skinned in the black community). we are not above hate, but from your actions and words... apparently neither are you.

and that is what i take issue with, that the victim becomes the victimizer, that people engage in the old biblical tenet of "eye for an eye" so let's all be blind. instead of becoming a survivor and changing things for the better, you turn around and do what's been done to you, knowing how horrible it is. you become the hate you seek to eliminate.

so it goes.

Racism is NOT AN OPINION, it is not made up in people's heads. When you go to an office and see the only black people working there are in "lower" positions. You see it when you managed to get hired and your co-workers with less experience and education make more than you. You see it when your HR department does an audit on salaries and education and note that the few minorities and women who work in the same jobs as their white counterparts have significantly more education and experience, but make less money (happened at my father's job). You see in the salary/wage gap between blacks and whites with similar education and experience. Unless you think automatically whites are smarter, deserve more money, are more intelligent, and worker harder and better than their black counterparts as a whole, which in itself is racist.

Racism isn't an opinion. It happens, and the sooner people quit thinking people make it all up in their heads each and every time, the better, if you can't acknowledge racism in all forms, you are part of the problem as to why racism will never go away in this country, it isn't about political correctness, it is about realizing that although someone is different than you physically, they still have humanity just like you.

Seeing a double standard in Affirmative Action, the "privilege" to say "nigger", and "black power" vs "white power" is telling to me. That isn't a double standard, that is whites bitching and moaning that you no longer have the complete upper hand and complete superiority over another group of people anymore, because those people now have SOME protections.

Why are you pissed off you can't say "nigger"? Why do you want to say it? Why would that be a great improvement in race relations for whites to call blacks "nigger" again in open society? In Jim Crow it was accepted, do you think race relations were great back then?

Why are you or countless millions of other whites not outraged at the concept of legacies in colleges and jobs based on who someone's parents were or who their parents knew? Why are white people not pissed off at the concept of affirmative action when it benefitted them? Why are you not pissed off that your white women benefit from the same that minorities do? Why are you not pissed off when Asians benefit from the same policies.

When you can answer these questions truly and honestly, then you will understand what I mean by double standards whites in GENERAL fail to acknowledge.

Black power doesn't have a history of lynching, murder, rape, and burning of black people and their property. There has never been a Rosewood or 1912 Tulsa riot occur with white people. There has not been the mass appeal to eradicate whites. The black power movement talks about blacks moving to their own utopia, the white power movement believes everyone else should move. Again a double standard not acknowledged by white people.

No there was never a double standard there, they just don't want a discussion on race unless it benefits them. That is the honest truth. They were offered many times a chance to participate, some did, but many chose not to, and they like you want to pretend racism is all in the minds of people, and an opinion rather than an actual reality. That is a luxury white privilege affords you.Racism is a reality in my life, and it isn't something I made up in my head, and just because you fail to acknowledge it doesn't make it any less valid.

We are all people, but not all people in this country are treated equal and that is a fact you can't deny.

I would love to think that all white people think of me as human, but in reality, many don't think that way. If they do, they think of me as less than them, and all while they think I am less than them, they have the audacity to believe that they are non racist because they now HAVE TO tolerate me a lot more than what they used to. It is painful to admit, but I know it is true for many people who are white. I see it all the time.

I never said blacks and whites can't understand each other, we don't want to, that is the cold hard truth. I haven't given up on race relations at all, I have given up on a realistic discussion where people don't automatically assume racism is an opinion, something made up, and not a reality simply because slavery and Jim Crow went away. I would like to believe we all have a shared cause, but we don't. We have a cause, whites have a cause, they want to live like "they used to", blacks never want to go back to "the good old days".

Change didn't occur because it just happened over time, It changed because blacks fought for it to change. People were beaten, lynched, burned, and tortured for this change, this change didn't come peacefully. It was demanded, and even with that change, white people are upset because they see the right for blacks to be treated as equal means taking away their privilege or rights. To dismiss the change as something that "just happened" means people really don't understand race relations and don't really care to.

Every people on this earth don't have the recent history that blacks in America do to refer back to when they talk about the injustice, nor do all people relate or understand the injustices that happen to black people now. I mean I can talk about what went on during the times of the ancient Roman empires, but I can't relate, I can relate to being called a "nigger", I can relate to people assuming I want to steal from them, or that I'm poor and on welfare, that I'm less intelligent, less hard working, and less qualified all because of the color of my skin. Can you relate to that first hand on a consistent, regular basis?

You're right, I do quit listening, because it is the same song different day. I expect nothing less from people. You aren't talking to someone unaware or out of touch with those different than me, I live amongst white people, some of them great friends, but I know and expect them to say something crazy, and I have learned I can't educate people, and people only want to believe what they have always believed, and denial is the response I usually get when I talk about race with people who don't look like me, not always, but it is the majority of the time. I no longer have patience like I should, I openly admit that.

People tend to forget, white people have managed to escape and move away from black people, but even in the most blackest of neighborhoods, white people exist, and they are usually there in roles of power. They are policemen, teachers, and political figures. Whites can escape blacks, blacks cannot escape whites.

I know this post is harsh, I know it sounds mean, but I am not going to sugarcoat this topic anymore. It is racist, I never said I wasn't racist, I just know to admit it. I don't think many white people can or are willing to admit this, because it will shatter their perception that racism is all made up in the heads of sensitive, over politically correct people.
